Course Portal - how to build your own

I’m starting to get quite a few emails about how Kursportalen is built and what it consists of. For those of you who don’t know Kursportalen, it’s Årstaskolan’s internal channel for professional development, primarily in digitalization, but since it lives on the Internet it’s of course free and open for anyone to participate in. Obviously this is no secret, so I’ll briefly describe how it’s built.
Platform / Software
Kursportalen runs on WordPress on our own servers.
Theme / Plugins
WPLMS - which you can find on Themeforest https://themeforest.net/item/wplms-learning-management-system/6780226 - for $32 (Nov 2017). The theme includes all the plugins needed to run this LMS. I’ve used it for about 4 years and it’s a bestseller with active developers. Recently APIs and other features were released so you can easily run the whole thing as an app (iOS / Android). If you want to know more about what you can do with this theme/plugins I recommend reading the documentation at the link above. Integration with other services is of course available, such as WooCommerce, BuddyPress and others.
Content
The videos I create myself I upload to Vimeo (so you don’t have to deal with ads) but also to YouTube for distribution. Otherwise it’s not any more complicated (okay, maybe a little) to create content than to publish any other content in WordPress.
Questions
If you have more specific questions just post them as comments and I’ll answer as best I can.
